Smart and gifted designers like Emilio Pucci are born once in an era. The Italian fashion designer and politician designed a number of wool rugs in his designing career that display Florentine elegance and refined knitting, making them an immortal work of art. Spanning their journey from Argentina where they were produced by Dandolo & Leaders in Buenos Aires in 1969, to the Museo de Arte Decorativo and then Harmony carpets in New York, the woolen rugs are now available at Sotheby’s and Christie’s for a price ranging between $6905 (£4,200) and $17,755 (£10,800). Hailed as “floor paintings in wool,” the signed limited edition 15 rugs flaunt five different color combination, together with earth tones, ice cream colors, sun colors, night tones and the pink spectrum, giving a bright though elegant look to contemporary living spaces.
